IRKUTSK & BAIKAL LAKE

Brief information: Irkutsk is an old Russian city, founded in 1661 as a prison. In addition to being a large industrial center, the city is famous for the fact that in 1826 exiled nobles (including S. Volkonsky and S. Trubetskoy) arrived here to serve their hard labor, advocating for the abolition of the existing form of government. Their families followed them later. Since the uprising took place in December, the people began to call them “Decembrists”. Well, for foreigners, Irkutsk is primarily popular because 66 km from it is the world-famous, largest freshwater lake in the world – Baikal.

Our company organizes various tours to Irkutsk and Lake Baikal with a visit to Olkhon Island. You can always change the program depending on whether you want to spend more time directly on Baikal or see more other attractions.
