NOTHERN LIGHTS

Brief information: The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are an atmospheric optical phenomenon, the glow of the upper layers of the planet’s atmosphere. They occur as a result of the interaction of the planet’s magnetosphere with charged particles of the solar wind.
When observed from the surface of the Earth, the Northern Lights appear as a general, rapidly changing glow of the sky or moving rays, stripes, crowns, “curtains”. The duration of the polar lights ranges from tens of minutes to several days.
The Northern Lights season in Russia lasts from about the end of August to the beginning of April. The longer the night, the greater the chance of seeing the lights.

Our company  usually offer tours to Murmansk and Teriberka, on the coast of the Barents Sea, to see the Northern Lights. Here, this wonderful atmospheric phenomenon can be observed from the end of August until April. In winter, the chances increase, since 42 days on the Kola Peninsula are polar night. But you can also see the Northern Lights:  in the Komi Republic, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in Chukotka,  in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) To observe the northern lights, it is important that the sky is clear, without clouds and away from urban light pollution.
