Brief information: our second capital was founded in 1703 by Emperor Peter the Great on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. Peter made Petersburg the capital of the Russian Empire. After the victory of the Bolsheviks led by V. Lenin in 1917, it was decided to move the capital from Petersburg (then the city was called Petrograd) to Moscow. The northern capital has experienced many upheavals, revolutions, including the blockade of 1941-1944, when the fascist hordes tried to strangle the city with hunger and cold. But our Piter (as we affectionately call Petersburg) survived.

There is not a single person in Russia who would not admire the beauty of St. Petersburg. It is a city of palaces, a city-museum in the open air. St. Petersburg is always beautiful, at any time of the year. But crowds of tourists come here especially during the White Nights from May to June to admire an unforgettable spectacle – the raising of the bridges.
